Started tracking a few more things. Things that my brother came up with. You know how accountants are about #’s. Some of these made some good sense and I am going to start tracking them. I may need to go get an accounting degree to understand them all, but I am going to track them. My brother also built a chart into the Excel spread sheet I am using and I can’t look at it to long, because the background has wallpaper with fish on it. I would rather fish, so I get really distracted.
The goal is to eventually track it down to where I lose the most money. The funny thing is that I already know. It’s those morons calling with the nut flush when I bluff big at a pot. Seriously though, I want to break it down and separate my $.55 tourneys from my $1 tourneys etc… to determine the real gains versus losses in different games. Eventually down to the person so I can track them down and beat the crap out of them for taking my money.
I also found a very useful tip on my own. Did you know that on line poker sites show you the other players screen names so you can track how they play? There were times when I would finish a tourney (about 10 minutes ago) and not know the name of one player that I played against. I look at their names, but I don’t commit them to memory. So when I see at the bottom of the screen “Hey Lethal, how’s it going?” I often reply “Great. Who the ^%$# are you?” They usually get upset and don’t talk to me for the rest of the game. Which is OK, because I am not there to make friends and chit chat.
Unfortunately, this has rolled over into real life as well. I’ve been with the same company for almost 20 years and still see people I “know” and talk to every day, but I have no idea what their name is. It doesn’t go over well in the corporate world when you have to say “What the &^%$ is your name?”. The boss gets really pissed off.
It has been a while since I last wrote here. Not because I haven’t been playing, but because I am lazy.
When last I left you, I had taken a major crash from $171.?? down to $16.33. It didn’t get mush better for a while. I had worked my account to down under $1 again and was really struggling. I have since changed my ideas about small buy in tourneys. The players are just not very good and I changed my strategy to accommodate for that and now on a good roll. Since changing my outlook, I have cashed in 42% of my tourneys and have an ROI (return on investment) of 67.39%. I wish everything I put money into had that kind of return. I wouldn’t be playing for these small stakes anymore. Until I went on tilt and lost it all and had to go back to free rolls. I have decided to stay away from cash games for a while, because I get really stupid and on tilt easy and, well, I get really pissed off and throw things. On my 3rd cell phone in less than 1 year. Which really sucks because you never get to the end of the contract when you can get a really good deal on a phone.
Anyway, since this is not a teaching site, I am not going to tell you what I am doing differently. I will tell you that for the most part, the people that are playing $.55 to $2.20 tournaments are not the brightest bulbs on the Christmas tree. They do get lucky on occasion and that sucks, but in the long run I will beat them. I just hope it’s that way when I get to the $10 tournaments, because then I can get on a real roll. Shoot, I’m sure I could go from the $10 range all the way back to the $1 range in no time.
Bank Roll = $32.50 (Would be higher if not for cash games)
ROI = 67.39%
Cash % = 41.46
